Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the global fight fans had expressed sympathy for the champion in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
