Dive Into this Reimagined Classic Adventure: This Free Demo for DQ7 Reimagined Debuts Soon.

Fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait much longer. An exciting trial experience is set to become available on January 7th, granting a sizable look into the game's beginning segments. Critically, any progress made within this demo can be imported directly into the complete game upon its February launch.

More Than a Simple Remake: A Thorough Reimagining

This title represents a from-scratch re-envisioning of the landmark 2000 RPG, first known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a significant step away from recent Dragon Quest remakes, like the previously released HD-2D versions, this version embraces a unique three-dimensional aesthetic. Environments have been crafted to look like intricate miniature worlds, with protagonists having a whimsical stylized look.

"Considering the 3DS remake, the main quest was still exceptionally long. Therefore, we came to a decision that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] make this experience for contemporary gamers."

Major Mechanical Enhancements & Updates

Square Enix have added several changes to refresh the original experience. This encompasses:

  • Expedited Overworld Battles: Inspired by modern RPGs, low-level enemies are now defeated instantly on the overworld map eliminating the need for entering a separate traditional combat sequence.
  • Adjustable Combat Speed: Players have the option to accelerate battle sequences to quickly get past simpler encounters.
  • New Vocation System: One completely new job class was introduced for this remake. Additionally, party members now have the ability to take on a second job, significantly enhancing strategic depth.

Such changes are designed to tackle a key the 2000 game's common points of feedback: its daunting length. The original storyline was known to require more than 100 hours to complete. This new edition has been specifically structured to enhance pacing and cut down on any filler.
