More than two weeks following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the couple.
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt able to share openly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started spending more time together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the film, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
In a separate essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to prevent the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate issued a embargo on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" associated with the active case.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
In the wake of the killings, public figures expressed varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive claims that were met with immediate backlash by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the those speaking out recently. Talking on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and remarked they demonstrated a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an associate ought to have intervened when the decision to comment on the death was made.
