'Living a Nightmare': Relatives of Missing Young People Await Answers After Alpine Blaze

The families of young people unaccounted for after a deadly inferno at a establishment in a Switzerland's alpine town are confronting an agonising wait for answers and pleading for information about their family members via social media.

The fire devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of the first day of the year. Circulated images reveal the ceiling being engulfed in flames as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.

Emergency services have indicated that it could take considerable time to formally name the those who perished of the disaster, which resulted in the death of 40 people and hurt another 119.
