Gatherings across the state have occurred in their remembrance.
The president said he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed journalists. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Attendees came together over the weekend at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in the capital.
“She was the individual that educators desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the leader of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to assist people.”

Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader the governor said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with distinction, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had fortitude,” he informed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
